ST FORMAT FEEDS ST REVIEW THE DUST
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last month in POWER #23 I announced that there was a 'Big Change' happening
to ST FORMAT. Well, just hours after sending all the copies of POWER #23
out, I had a phonecall from ST FORMAT giving me information on the 'Big
Change'. So what's happening then? Well, FUTURE PUBLISHING (the people
behind ST FORMAT) have bought out I.D.G. MEDIA (the guys who took over
EUROPRESS who were responsible for ST REVIEW). This means that FUTURE
PUBLISHING now own ST REVIEW and they have decided to merge ST REVIEW into
ST FORMAT and just make one 'big' magazine. The change is to happen as from
this month, the ST REVIEW out now should be the last issue and an all-new ST
FORMAT should be hitting the streets very soon. What it will look like and
be like I do not know but we'll all be finding out pretty soon!

DAVE COBBLEDICK KISSES GOODBYE TO THE ST
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Popular Shareware author, Dave Cobbledick, is rumoured to be leaving the ST
scene, possibly for the PC. Apparently production of his multi-format disk
magazine, VOICES (available from POWER P.D.) will continue to be released at
irregular intervals and all his Shareware releases will be sold on
compilation disks as licenceware but apart from that Dave Cobbledick will
have nothing to do with the ST scene and will no longer be producing ST
titles. However, his new commercial software will continue to sell
commercially. I'll try and get hold of Dave to clarify the situation for
the next issue.
*** STOP PRESS! *** STOP PRESS! *** STOP PRESS! *** STOP PRESS! ***
I've just been talking to Dave Cobbledick and the rumours are TRUE. Dave
Cobbledick has LEFT the ST scene...For good. For more information, see the
"DAVE COBBLEDICK : THE END" article in this issue of POWER which will
explain all.

TRENTON WEBB LEAVES ST FORMAT
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just after ST FORMAT has bought out ST REVIEW and gained a complete monopoly
on the ST magazine market, Trenton Webb, editor of ST FORMAT has decided to
leave the magazine for a new and supposedly better job. The question is,
"DO WE REALLY CARE?!".

NEW FALCON PRODUCERS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Production of the Falcon is soon to be taken over by music giants, C-LAB.
The company have taken over production on a third-party basis and plan to
keep the machine basically the same as it is but market it much better and
make use of its full potential plus they hope to be able to get the price
down to as little as £299 within the next year or so. Now that would be a
nice little treat don't you think? They hope to achieve this by stripping
the Falcon down and looking for ways of producing each unit at a cheaper
price like they did recently with the STFM. Whether this will affect
upgrading or anything else like it did with the new, cheaper STFM though is
unknown.

040 HERE WE COME!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rumoured FALCON 040 is now looking like it may well happen. At the
recent London ATARI show (see the show report in this issue) we were
informed that plans and full designs for the FALCON 040 were now ready and
production of the new machine could be much sooner than we think. It looks
as if C-LAB, the new FALCON producers really want to get the improved and
faster 040 off the ground and have made the ATARI rumours a reality. We
shall see. Watch this space for more news on this subject.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOS OFF
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A brand new and HUGELY improved version of TOS, the ST operating system
which makes the ST tick should soon be ready for release and will more than
likely be making its appearance in the forth-coming FALCON 040 (described
above). Again, watch this space for more information.

SHOOTING STAR
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The disk magazine to be produced by Michael Herman in conjunction with
BLYTHE P.D., THE ATARI STAR, has been scrapped due to other commitments on
the part of the latter. Michael Herman would have liked to have continue
production of THE ATARI STAR disk magazine but in the end had to call it a
day. The ATARI STAR will no longer be released. POWER will, however, be
publishing the articles that were written for the ATARI STAR that were never
used so look forward to those. Michael Herman will now be writing for POWER
on a regular basis too hopefully so we haven't lost him!

A NEW DISK MAGAZINE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, there's another disk magazine on the scene. It's just been released
and is produced by Jamie Blakney. Jamie Blakney is also the person behind
J.B.P.D. and has chosen to call his disk magazine FUSION. It will be
released on the 1st of every month and has the same sort of content as
POWER. For a bit more information on this new disk magazine read the
ULTIMATE DISK MAGAZINE ROUNDUP : JANUARY 1995 UPDATE article in this
issue.
